Pic du Midi de Bigorre - Observatory

UNESCO (tentative list) Cable car La Mongie

Pioneering high-mountain scientific site, reaching 2,877 m. Active astronomical observatory since the 18th century, classified as a Grand Site Occitanie and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list. Exceptional panorama over the Pyrenees chain, 500 m² Experience space, planetarium under the historic Baillaud dome (the oldest in Europe) and a sky walkway.

International Dark Sky Reserve: one of the rare places in Europe with an exceptionally pure night sky.

Col du Tourmalet

Cycling heritage 5 min by car

The mythical Tour de France pass (2,115 m), the most crossed in the race's history. Legendary passage between the Campan and Barèges valleys. Giant of the Tourmalet statue at the summit. Spectacular panorama over the central Pyrenees.

Pass closed in winter (November to May). Accessible in summer for hiking and cycling.

Église Saint-Jean - Historic portal

Listed monument 1926 20 min by car

Built around 1280 by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem. After a fire in 1901, only the portal remains with its tympanum adorned with a Jerusalem cross and its Romanesque capitals. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1926.

Les Grands Thermes & Aquensis

Bagnères-de-Bigorre, a spa town since Roman times. The Grand Thermes (whose cornerstone was laid by the Duchess of Angoulême in 1823) and the Aquensis center carry on this millennial tradition of water treatments.
